Falling for Fall – How to Romanticise the Grey Season 🍂

While everyone’s busy planning their Christmas shopping and complaining about the darkness at 4 PM, I’m here to convince you that November is actually the main character of the year.

(Stay with me, I promise this isn’t seasonal depression talking.)

Think about it: November is basically Earth’s version of that mysterious person at a party who shows up in a grey turtleneck and somehow makes it look fabulous. It’s giving moody protagonist energy, and we’re here for it.

Why November Slaps.

Your bed has never felt cosier (scientific fact).

Hot beverages taste 127% better when everything outside looks like an indie film.

Wearing cozy clothes 24/7.

No more FOMO, because everyone else is also at home watching Netflix under three blankets

The perfect excuse to buy that ridiculously expensive scented candle and bubble bath (“It’s for my mental health”)

But for real, here are some tips to properly romanticise November. Sounds hard, especially if you’re working full-time when you never even see the daylight anymore. But we got this!

Your Whimsical, Yet Practical Guide to Creating A Warm Workspace

Who says you can’t have a work candle? Writing that 1927827th follow-up mail has never felt so romantic. 🕯️

Set up a “power hour” when the afternoon gets darkest – light your favourite work candle, make fresh tea and get some Christmas cookies (yup, we think the time’s right). View early sunsets as permission to wind down mindfully and align your work calendar. How about no stressful meetings post-sunset? 🌅

Create different playlists for different work moods: Rainy Day Deadlines, Foggy Morning Emails, Grey November Productivity 🌧️

Reflect on the advantages of having four seasons. See fall with its grey skies and indoor-temperatures as your focus-enhancing backdrop to getting things done, before spring sidetracks your focus again. 🍂

Keep a small vase with winter foliage and other flowers: dried flowers, pine branches … 🥀

For the extra cold days, knitted socks, a hot-water bottle and a thermo to keep your tea warm will be your best friends. Feel free to invest in a proper teapot, watching tea steam is like a little workplace meditation to preserve your sanity. 🫖

These alarm clocks, that wake you up with rays of sunshine aren’t just great for actually making it to work but also keeping them turned on during work feels like the sun is shining into your window (it’s not really though, so don’t forget your vitamin D supplements). 🌞

Best Second-Hand Finds.

November calls for a thoughtful self-care routine that doesn’t cost the earth (got the pun, eh?)

Storing Your Seasonal Clothes.

Ahh, summer clothes. So light, so bright, so… completely useless for half the year. 🥶

So, time to give your shorts and sundresses the time-out they deserve.

  1. Vacuum bags: Suck the air out of your winter wardrobe, not the fun out of summer. 🌬️
  2. The Great Purge: Channel your inner Marie Kondo. If it doesn’t spark joy (or fit), say “sayonara!” Perfect occasion to organise a clothe swap with your friends, in my humble opinion. 👗
  3. Under-Bed Bunker: Transform that dust bunny haven into a useful storage space. Out of sight, out of mind, but definitely not in the landfill. Tetris skills finally put to good use. 🛏️
  4. Suitcase Shenanigans: Give that old luggage a new purpose. Bonus: Your clothes come pre-packed for your next vacation in the sun. ☀️
  5. Eco-Friendly Moth Deterrents: Skip the mothballs and opt for cedar blocks or lavender sachets. Your clothes (and nose) will thank you. 🦋
  6. Climate Control: Store in a cool, dry place. Your bathing suit doesn’t need a summer tan while in storage. 🏖️
  7. Roll, Don’t Fold: Save space and prevent creases. It’s like origami but for your wardrobe. 🧻

Remember, proper storage isn’t just neat – it’s a rebellion against fast-fashion. The more you take care of your clothes, the longer they’ll last. Take that, consumerism!

So grab your chunky knit blanket, embrace your inner Victorian novel character or Scorpio friend, and let’s make this November aesthetic AF. Because if we can’t beat the grey, we might as well give it a glow-up.
Romantically brooding,
